The Little Red Wagon...not so little.

My boys love riding in their little red wagon and I love it because it holds the groceries well!

 Check out those tires though! This "little" red wagon is updated with monster truck tires, not like the small metal tires of yesteryear. Smooth riding, I'm sure they'll come with shock systems next. This photo was taken last Autumn...I'm missing the green grass. 

Chinese New Year's Resolutions

For those of us who missed January's New Year Resolutions, it's sometimes best to just start on the Chinese New Year. My new year's resolution is to get organized and post more often on this blog. My goals are more detailed but I won't go into that right now.

Do you dance with flowers in your mouth?

As I was sewing a quilt this evening, Jadon pointed to the fabric and said, "Those are flowers." Which led us to the following conversation.

Me: Yes, those are flowers.
Jadon: Do you like flowers?
Me: I love flowers.
Jadon: Do you dance with flowers in your mouth?
Me: Sometimes. Do you think dad dances with flowers in his mouth?
Jadon: No. He's a natural.

Jadon: "Are we going on a trip?"

When I was teaching a bookbinding class this past Saturday, Jadon and Ethan went to the Farmer's Market with my parents. He got his face painted and they tried out all sorts of food. Jadon even got a carved wooden owl and watched the man make it. He loves things like that so I'm sure he had so much fun!

Whenever he visits my parents house, he also has to take a turn on the truck dolly. My dad always takes a break from working to give him a push. Ethan hasn't quite learned how to stand on it yet but he kept trying. These photos were taken about a half an hour apart. You can see he became messy from the popsicle and had to change his clothes.

Chocolate Ice Cream Beard

We're heading to Provo for the bookbinding class on Saturday. Today is family time though and my two boys get to visit with their grandparents and their aunt Haleigh. Their aunt Calixta and cousin Delia Mae will be in town so they get to see them as well.

Jadon loves Haleigh. I think it's because she give him ice cream every time we visit.

He has such a man face as it is but check out that chocolate beard and serious look.

Mom, look. There's a Mean Guy!

Today in the store, I was in the tools section trying to find a nice sturdy rope for nursery at church (no, I'm not using it on the kids. It's really for leading the kids from one classroom to the next without losing them down the stairs or hallway or the men's restroom.)


Anyway...As I was looking for a rope in the tools section, Jadon, who was sitting in the grocery cart said, "Mom, look. There's a mean guy." I was only half way listening to him as I was doing price comparison and so he said it again, even louder. "Mom, The mean guy is right there!" Which got my full attention. I looked over as he was saying it a third time and pointing to a man standing just two feet from the cart. What could I do? I just smiled and he smiled back and said, "I'm not mean, I just look mean." He really looked like a sweet old man, not a mean guy. Poor Jadon didn't quite understand that we don't call people mean, especially when we don't even know them. Later on the car ride home Jadon said, "He wasn't a mean guy, he was good." I wish the man could have been there then to hear him say that.

Custom Orders and Sneaking

I was able to work a little bit on custom orders today. I received the final maps for Lori's Cord bound books and so those will be underway this week which means more videos of cordbinding coming up. I wasn't able to finish everything I've wanted to do today but I got sucked into the world of blogging and reading other people's wonderful posts about this and that. It's amazing how fast the time goes when I'm reading about new things. I'm almost finished with a wonderful book and I'm suppose to return it tomorrow so I might have to stay up a little longer tonight to finish that. I'll post about that tomorrow for your book review enjoyment. Tonight I made hot fudge pudding cake with Jadon after Ethan went to bed. I love making things with him because when he sneaks finger licks of batter he tells me that he "sneaked" and he knows the exact moment to ask for the spatula at the end of use so he can lick it off. While we were waiting for that to bake we watched videos on vimeo. This one below was his favorite and I'm sure he'll ask to watch it again tomorrow.

A little spotlight for my husband

Hooray for the new banner! My husband Daniel has been making my banners. The side signs on them changes frequently to allow advertising for each other's shops as well as info for when we have sales or special books in the shop.

"Apple" Pie

This is my son Jadon holding up an "apple" pie that we made. It's actually zucchini instead of apples. My husband made a garden this last summer and treated sliced zucchini with sugar and lemon juice and cooked it with an apple pie filling recipe and then canned it. It's really yummy and you can't even tell that it's zucchini! I made the pie crust and let Jadon help roll it out. He really wanted to make sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles (a little more work than pie) so I let him use a cookie cutter to make shapes in the pie crust before we placed it on top. He loved it and was happy with pie instead of cookies :)
