Los Angeles Book Art Workshops

I'm wrapping up the planning for a week of book art workshops in Los Angeles, during the second or third week of May. The workshops held on Monday through Thursday will be between three and six hours each, with Friday and Saturday being a two-day Ten Book Workshop. Attend one, or attend them all. Also, I'm working out the details to bring in two other teachers to teach as well. Final details to come.

The Bonefolder's Final Issue

The Bonefolder, an e-journal for the bookbinder and book artist was an online periodical that was started back in 2004 and was published as a free download via the internet. The last issue was released in January 2012.

It's sort of like washing your car and then it rains. I just got a new computer that could handle downloading the Bonefolder Issues and now they've stopped publishing them. I will admit that I was a tad heart broken.

However, Peter Verheyen gives us hope for keeping things alive like the Bind-o-rama and the Book Arts Web. You can listen to an interview about the closing of the Bonefolder with Peter Verheyen and Karen Hanmer who was an editor for the Bonefolder. It was nice to hear Karen's voice again and put a smile on my face after the slightly devastating news of the release of the final issue.

Text Paper for Bookbinding in Australia?

I had someone email and ask me where to find great text paper in Australia.

"I'm trying to find a natural/cream coloured paper thats good for the text paper inside the book, but Im not sure what type to get!!
Ive been researching the different types, but that just sort of confused me further!

I bought a bookbinding kit from Hollanders, and inside that was Somerset paper, but when I looked it up, its really very expensive.
I'm going to be making 10 books (5 x A4 and 5 x A5 - Not sure what size that it is inches), so I need quite a bit of paper and I cant be spending $5 a sheet."

If you have any suggestions, please comment and help her out! Thanks!
